How To Remove A Stripped Bolt From A Brake Caliper
Best way to remove stripped brake caliper commodities?
So went to change out my brakes on my 05 maxima and discovered one of the bolts was well-nigh rounded, what would be the best way to go information technology out?

I use damaged commodities extractors. The ones at sears are also decent. Don't get the harbor freight ones they don't work as well. You tin can try hammering on a smaller socket, but I've found these to exist superior.

those actually expect a little higher quality so the sears set, i'll probably pick those up as well instead, thanks a lot for the proffer

-
heat upwardly the bolt like crazy . like crazy . really crazy .
-
bang on slightly smaller socket ( if commodities is 19mm bang on a 18 mm )
-
hopefully information technology goes on snug . use a really big hammer
-
persuade bolt out by manus .
-
if yous snap the bolt then . .
-
accept off caliper bracket .
-
heat up bolt with acetylene torch
-
put on bench vise
-
persuade the bolt out
hope this helps .

The just way I could see existence able to do this would exist with an acetylene torch. I've tried it with a handheld propane torch before but no luck. It but don't get hot enough.

Don't really take anything to heat up the bolt so that'southward out, thanks for the suggestion tho

Well, you accept a couple options. Commencement step is to soak the threads in Kroil or Atomic number 82 Equalizer. Tin y'all get to the back side and effort using vice grips? If non, you can effort welding on a nut and breaking it with that. If that fails, yous tin can try grinding a slot in the caput and using a big screw driver. If all of those fail, you tin drill information technology out and tap if necessary. Good luck. Edit: You can try using a chisel and hammer to plough information technology as well.

Vice grips weren't something I had thought of, I'll give that a shot, my friend also pointed this set to me, so i'll probably give those a shot as well if the grips don't work, thanks for the suggestions

Another style that works to remove it, is to use an electrical drill with a hammer part on it, then apply the socket with the drill to "hammer" it loose as you endeavor to plow it with the drill. That more often than not works best with stripped screws using bits just i've had success with modest bolts awell, and then long as the bolt is not besides rounded and non too large, then that the electric drill actually is strong enough to unscrew it.
